Early Bird Swap Meet 2017

February 18th, 2017 by Pamela "Pam" Bowe in category: Event Galleries

Thank you to all of the members who made our double booth in the Sleep Train Expo Hall great! Dale Carrington and I met Rocky Feller at my place at 4:00 and went into the Fairgrounds with no waiting. We set up and scooted out with just a one hour turn-around! It was great!

Mike Rossi, Keith Mayfarth, Don and Cheryl
Coddington, Mike Jernigan, Scott and Lilia Maziar, Mark Hominda, Ed and Kathy O'Malley, Jeff and Jan Rich, Ed and Harriet Miller, Paul Gobat and Reuben Hominda did a great job representing our club. My valve cover made into a Hot Wheels racetrack confused more than a few people, so Dale brought a real valve cover racer for people to see. We made new friends, have three people thinking about coming to the next meeting, and got to meet club member Chuck Wolf.

All British Field Meet, 2016

July 23rd, 2016 by Kathy Bergh in category: Event Galleries

The 28th Annual All British Field Meet was held July 23, 2016, at St. Edwards Park in Kenmore. It was an impressive venue for a car show! The historic nature of St. Edwards added to the pomp and circumstance of this gathering, in a friendly car show way.
As posted on the Facebook ABFM our Metropolitans are the newest entry class to be included. “The 28th Annual WWABFM is pleased to include the Austin Metro as a new marque in our event....The Nash Metropolitan is an
automobile that was sold from 1953 to 1961.It conforms to two classes of vehicle: economy car and subcompact car. In today’s terminology the Metropolitan is a “subcompact”, but this category had not yet come into use when the car was made. At that time, it was variously categorized, for example as a "small automobile" as well as an "economy car".”
For our first OFFICIAL year showing we had fun. Jan and Jeff Rich, Pam Bowe, Barb and Chuck Blodgett, Mike Rossi and Barbie Rostad brought their Mets to the event. Several other PNMOC members stopped by sans Met and joined in the fun. Our Met class was presented with awards made from wrenches. Very creative. By Pam Bowe

Can-Am 2016

Memories of Can-Am 2016 by Gary Roberts

I drove to the border with Wayne and Ingrid and Josh Dersch. After Friday afternoon’s drive over hill and dale to the Clayburn Village Store, it was time to eat. Then back to the guest hotel. How do you get 13 Mets in 7 parking spots? You stack them! I made a sign for the trip up. Longest trip in my Met, 200 miles one way, and it ran great for the 500 mile weekend. I have much more confidence in it now. Saturday afternoon we drove through the Sumas Prairie farmlands. We stopped at Granny and Grumpa’s Antiques. This place apparently was on the TV show Canadian Pickers. We left the antiques place and drove more Sumas Prairie and ended up at Birchwood Dairies for ice cream. More prairie cruising, and we arrived at the Phoenix Ballroom for the Saturday night banquet. Very good food! I think my Met was sweet on Miss Daisy there. She sure was a
pretty little thing! The best part of the trip for me was meeting the B.C. Met members. I have always found Canadians to be very friendly and welcoming people, and that is what I found at this meet. But I also met and got better acquainted with some PNMOC members. At the club meetings people tend to sit at the same table with the same folks, so you don't get the opportunity to bounce tables to sit with and meet different members. But at a weekend gathering like this you do have the opportunity to mingle in a more relaxed atmosphere. It was a fun weekend and I am very glad that I went.

Brookdale Allenmore Car Show

June 18th, 2016 by Kathy Bergh in category: Event Galleries

Brookdale Allenmore Senior Living Solutions Car Show saw sun, clouds, hail, wind, and then sun again. None of the weather changes affected the big smile on Leonard Robison’s face. Eight Mets were joined by three other classic cars that saw the “Car Show Today” signs and joined our merry (if a bit damp) group. The Tacoma Banjo Band wisely moved inside to play for an hour. Our hosts provided all who came with a hot dog picnic lunch. They are talking about a bigger and better event for next year when they called to thank us for getting their (going to be) annual car show off to a great start. Kathy Bergh, chair

2013 Weekend on Whidbey

September 14th, 2013 by Dale Carrington in category: Event Galleries
This is MY car! MINE, MINE, MINE!

Weekend on Whidbey – WHAT A WEEKEND! I added 3 days to it and it still went by in a flash! For a relaxing weekend there sure is a LOT going on. A few of us tried to get there a little early to help set everything up. Friday folks were arriving throughout the day and settling in. Friday evening started at the bonfire roasting hot dogs and marsmallows, eating bean dishes, chips and some of the best pie on this earth! Conversation was hot and heavy all evening.

Saturday morning broke with hot coffee, waffles, eggs any way you wanted them, hash browns and ham – and a general loosening of belts. Valve cover beauty contest and races followed with lots of cheering, picture snapping and tight competition.

Vassault Flower House

September 4th, 2011 by Kathy Bergh in category: Event Galleries
A background to match any Met.

If you are driving to Point Defiance, it is well worth the time to take the Vassault Street Entrance and look at Duc Pham's home at 3725 N. Vassault St. It is festooned with dahlias, geraniums, roses, petunias, impatiens, marigolds, irises, begonias, clematis, hydrangeas, lilies, and ..... . Duc is a Vietnamese refugee who uses flowers to both celebrate his success in his new country and ease the pain of leaving his home, business, friends and some family behind. Phil and I visited with Duc briefly and toured both the front and back yards. If we need a stop for a tour or poker run during the blooming season, I heartily recommend this beautiful celebration of life. It is a great photo opportunity!

2011 marks the 19th annual Greenwood Car Show. The show was nearly a mile and a half long, covering 22 city blocks, and well over 800 cars were on display.

Over 200,000 people in attendance and they were all wowed by the 7 PNMOC member cars that were in the show. In fact, Jeff and Jan Rich's Toy Met took top honors winning the best convertible in the 1961 and after category. Congratulations Jeff and Jan!
